Hatha Yoga (Beginner/Intermediate)
This is a medium paced class suitable for beginners, experienced practitioners, and everybody in between. The teacher will offer variations and modifications to allow each student to practice comfortably within their capabilities and to enable students to challenge themselves when they are ready. Every class is different and while there may be some flow within the class, poses are often static and focussed on safe alignment. Movement is synchronised with the breath to bring about introspection and internal connection with the self. Every class starts with a short focussing session to allow you to let go of your day, then we move the body into gentle poses. The class finishes with a breathing practice and a beautiful guided relaxation. A reasonable level of mobility is required.
Hatha Yoga (Gentle)
A combination of Hatha Yoga and Restorative Yoga. This class has all of the elements of a Hatha Yoga class. It is suitable for beginners, seniors and people looking for a slow, gentle contemplative practice.
Rest and Restore
A blissful experience beginning with some very gentle stretching, some breathing practices and a long period of relaxation. The relaxation element of the class is practiced while lying down as the instructor guides you through a series of steps that result in you being in a highly restful state while you are awake. This practise has proven to reduce stress, improve digestion, and prepare the mind for deeper, better quality sleep. It is appropriate for all ages and abilities. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing: there is no major physical practice.
This is an 8-week course teaching the basics of yoga. It includes detailed instructions about how to safely practice yoga asana (poses), breathing techniques, relaxation, short meditations and a little bit of yoga philosophy. At the end of this course you will feel comfortable attending most beginner level yoga classes at Mossman Yoga Studio. This course is perfect for absolute beginners and for experienced yogis who’d like to get back to the basics.
Shaking Medicine is primarily a practice of letting go and listening to our intuition. The teacher guides you into a present and centred state allowing the body to be more receptive to relaxation and shaking. You will then be guided through postures to induce neurogenic therapeutic tremoring through fascial lines, energy meridians and muscles of the body working to release physical tensions, suppressed emotions and energy blockages. Leading to greater relaxation, peace of mind, emotional resilience, increased perception and increase in Life force energy. The class is taught through a Taoist lineage incorporating elements of stretching, energy circulation, involuntary shaking, meditations, sound and ecstatic dance. The class is intended to be fun, energising, and suitable for all abilities. Students are shown variations of postures and invited to practice shaking at their own pace.
