Hatha Yoga (Beginner/Intermediate)
This is a medium paced class suitable for beginners, experienced practitioners, and everybody in between. The teacher will offer variations and modifications to allow each student to practice comfortably within their capabilities and to enable students to challenge themselves when they are ready. Every class is different and while there may be some flow within the class, poses are often static and focussed on safe alignment. Movement is synchronised with the breath to bring about introspection and internal connection with the self. Every class starts with a short focussing session to allow you to let go of your day, then we move the body into gentle poses. The class finishes with a breathing practice and a beautiful guided relaxation. A reasonable level of mobility is required.
Hatha Yoga (Gentle)
A combination of Hatha Yoga and Restorative Yoga. This class has all of the elements of a Hatha Yoga class. It is suitable for beginners, seniors and people looking for a slow, gentle contemplative practice.
Vinyasa yoga is to flow or move, with intention, from one asana (pose) to the next, to arrive at a particular point, physically and spiritually. Vinyasa yoga teaches us to cultivate an awareness that links each action to the next—on the mat and in our lives. This class is dynamic and suitable for people who have a little bit of experience.
Rest and Restore
A blissful experience beginning with some very gentle stretching, some breathing practices and a long period of relaxation. The relaxation element of the class is practiced while lying down as the instructor guides you through a series of steps that result in you being in a highly restful state while you are awake. This practise has proven to reduce stress, improve digestion, and prepare the mind for deeper, better quality sleep. It is appropriate for all ages and abilities. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing: there is no major physical practice.
Our Morning Flow class is a gentle movement class suitable for people of all ages and experience. The class starts with a guided body scan which leads into a slow warm-up followed by gentle fluid movement to unwind the body. The class finishes with a beautiful peaceful relaxation. This is the perfect class to cultivate mindfulness, and to set you up perfectly for the day ahead.
This is an 8-week course teaching the basics of yoga. It includes detailed instructions about how to safely practice yoga asana (poses), breathing techniques, relaxation, short meditations and a little bit of yoga philosophy. At the end of this course you will feel comfortable attending most beginner level yoga classes at Mossman Yoga Studio. This course is perfect for absolute beginners and for experienced yogis who’d like to get back to the basics.
